HTC One V – CLOUD SERVICES: HTC menyediakan layanan penyimpanan berbasis cloud yang bisa diakses dari berbagai perangkat internet. HTC bekerjasama dengan Dropbox menyediakan kapasitas gratis sebesar 25 GB. Selain itu, di hape ini juga tersedia alternative cloud milik Microsoft  yang menyediakan kapasitas gratis sebesar 7 GB.

HTC One V – HTC HUB: menambah aplikasi bisa dilakukan dengan membeli di Play Store, sebuah toko aplikasi milik Android. Agar lebih mudah, HTC menyediakan layanan HTC Hub yang memberikan rekomendasi atas aplikasi dan konten personalisasi di Play Store.

Identik dengan perangkat kelas atas nan mahal, HTC mulai berbenah. Menampik keidentikan  tersebut, HTC memperkenalkan satu kelompok hape berjuluk One. Seri pertamanya bernama One V. Hape ini dibandrol 3 jutaan dengan fitur yang setara dengan saudaranya yang ada di kelas atas. Inilah salah satu bukti bahwa HTC tidak saja menyasar pasar kelas atas, namun juga kelas menengah. Selain sarat akan fitur hiburan, juga komplet untuk fitur kantoran. Sebut saja kamera 5 MP, jaringan internet cepat, berikut aplikasi office nan sempurna, bisa edit dan juga membuat file baru. HTC One V – Desain: Bentuknya melengkung dibagian bawahnya, nampak unik dan nyaman digenggam. Dirancang dengan arsitektur unibody berbahan logam nampak kokoh dan menarik. Baterainya menyatu dengan bodi sehingga tidak bisa dilepas. Posisi slot kartu SIM dan microSD terletak di penutup belakang bagian bawah. Layarnya berukuran 3,7 inchi berteknologi kapasitif. Respon layarnya cukup baik. Tidak lamban dan lemot. Tampilan antarmukanya menggunakan teknologi buatan HTC sendiri yakni HTC Sense.

HTC One V – Fitur: Kamera yang dipasang berkualitas 5 megapiksel dengan berbagai teknologi pendukung antara lain penggunaan lensa 28 mm dengan aperture besar F/2.0m, smart LED flash, dan sensor BSI. Fungsi sensor ini agar hasil foto jadi lebih baik disaat kondisi kurang cahaya. Hanya butuh 0,7 detik untuk mengabadikan objek. Bila anda lama menekan tombol shutter maka kamera akan terus merekam objek hingga maksimal 99 kali dengan kecepatan 4 frame per detik.

Fitur hiburan khususnya musik, HTC memilih membuat aplikasi sendiri yang lebih interaktif dan kaya fitur. Aplikasi ini mengintegrasikan dengan beberapa layanan musik online sehingga lebih kaya. Terdapat pula FM radio tuner untuk siaran lokal dan online streaming bekerjasama dengan Tuneln Radio. Sebagai informasi, layanan tambahan SoundHound dan Tuneln Radio, dibutuhkan koneksi internet yang cepat.

Aplikasi kantoran, tersedia Polaris office. Polaris disini sudah full version sehingga anda tidak hanya sebatas membaca dan mengedit tulisan, tapi juga membuat file baru berupa MS Word, MS Excel, dan MS Power Point. Pun mendukung cloud dengan akses ke Google Docs dan sinkronisasi dengan file desktop di PC.

HTC juga bekerjasama dengan Dropbox menyediakan daya tampung gratis sebesar 25 Gb. Selain itu, di hape ini juga tersedia alternative cloud milik Microsoft yang menyediakan gratis ruang tampung di “awan” sebesar 7 Gb.

HTC One V –  Kinerja: Kinerja sebagai sebuah hape tergolong baik. Digunakan untuk telepon dan menerima panggilan berjalan lancar. Begitu pula untuk berkirim pesan baik SMS atau MMS.

Dukungan prosesor dengan kemampuan memadai yakni Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz dan GPU Adreno 205 menjadi senjata ampuh untuk kinerja yang lebih cepat. Menjalankan berbagai aplikasi secara bersamaan bisa dilakukan tanpa hambatan berarti. Koneksi internetnya juga tak ada gangguan. Menggunakan jalur selular dan juga WiFi lancar-lancar saja. Termasuk menjalankan fungsi hotspot-nya.

Hape ini dibekali baterai berkapasitas 1.500 mAh. Termasuk pas-pasan. Hal ini karena sistem operasi Android dan berbagai fitur kelas atas yang digunakan membutuhkan konsumsi daya yang besar. Saat pengujian untuk penggunaan normal, hape ini bisa bertahan seharian. Sementara untuk standby baterai bisa bertahan hingga 2 hari.

Treq A10G DUO mendukung fitur telpon dan sms karena sudah menyediakan slot untuk SIM card serta menyediakan koneksi 3G internal sehingga internetan tanpa perlu modem tambahan. 3. Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II

Tablet China ini mulai dikenal di Indonesia. Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II dibekali prosessor Cortex-A9 (ARMv7) 1GB, RAM 1GB dan GPU Mali 400 seperti tablet Treq. Tidak hanya itu, Ainol Aurora II telah menggunakan layar IPS 5 Point Touch Capacitive dengan resolusi 1024 x 600 (16:9). Aurora II mendukung permainan 3D dan mampu memutar film kualitas HD seperti WMV, ASF, MP4, AVI, MPG, RV10, DivX, VC-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 dan lain-lain. Menggunakan system operasi Android Ice Cream Sandwich, Ainol Aurora II juga dibekali kamera depan 2MP dan WIFI serta dukungan 3G via modem eksternal. 4. IMO Z5

IMO sering mengeluarkan tablet murah termasuk tablet IMO Z5 yang diperkuat prosessor All winner A10,Cortex A8.CPU 1.5GHz dengan OS Android ICS. Mendukung fungsi call dan sms, IMO Z5 dilengkapi dua kamera depan dan belakang masing-masing 0,3 MP dan 2 MP. Selain itu IMO Z5 dibekali fitur G-sensor dan sudah mendukung game 3D. Untuk urusan internetan, IMO Z5 menyediakan koneksi wifi dan mendukung koneksi 3G walaupun dengan modem eksternal. Soal harga, IMO Z5 dibandrol sekitar Rp. 1,1 jutaan.

5. Mito T600

Mito T600 merupakan tablet dual on SIM card yang sudah mendukung koneksi 3G. Tablet ini dibekali prosessor 650 Mhz dan kamera depan belakang masing-masing 0,3 MP dan 2.0 MP untuk keperluan video calling dan memotret. Selain itu Mito T600 juga menyediakan fitur TV analog dan double speaker untuk menghadirkan dentuman audio yang mneggelegar. Mito T600 hadir dengan system operasi Android 2.3 Gingerbread dan dibanderol dengan harga sekitar Rp.1,5 jutaan.

Top games and gadgets predicted for 2013

Newsbeat reporter Grand Theft Auto V is expected to be one of 2013's biggest selling games.

Last year was a good year for gadget and video game fans.

There were two new consoles, the PS Vita and the Wii U in 2012, along with a host of new games.
Some of the most popular were Mass Effect 3, Halo 4, Black Ops II and Max Payne 3.
The iPad 3, 4G technology finally arriving in the UK and Microsoft's Windows 8 have kept given gadget fans occupied. But how will the industry fair in 2013?
We've asked a gaming and a gadget expert to give us their opinions on what's going to be making the technology headlines this year.

Xbox 720: Microsoft is expected to unveil an update to its games console in 2013. The claim is it will bring a bigger, brighter and bolder experience as it tries to become the epicentre of your living room.
4G: EE has started the super fast speed revolution for smartphones and in 2013 Vodafone and O2 will launch it for the rest of the UK.
Samsung Galaxy S IV: This isn't expected until April but the follow up to the award winning Samsung Galaxy S3 is already starting to generate rumours normally only associated with Apple products.
PS Vita and Wii U were two new consoles of 2012 Apple Television: It's a rumour that won't die every couple of weeks we are told by some 'unconfirmed source' that Apple will launch a television set that will revolutionise the television industry.
iOS 7: With Scott Forstall gone, and Jony Ive now in charge of design the operating system that powers the iPhone and iPad is likely to get a huge overhaul.

Grand Theft Auto V: Arguably the most anticipated game of 2013, Grand Theft Auto V is the next instalment in Rockstar's popular open-world crime series. It's said to be five times bigger than GTA IV. Gamers will also be able to control three main characters.
Tomb Raider: 2013 will see the rebirth of Lara Croft. Following on from the likes of Bond and Batman this is an original story, charting how she went from a privileged young lady to a fearless adventurer. It looks like a more action-driven instalment than previous games in the series.
Watch Dogs: It stole the show at this year's E3. Set in the near future when the whole world can be accessed and controlled from a smartphone. Playing as Aiden Pearce you'll be able to control traffic lights and raise bridges, delay trains and jam mobile phones. It's from the makers of Far Cry and the Assassin's Creed games.
The Cave: In recent years some of the best games around have been downloadable titles from indie studios. The Cave could be one of those games in 2013. More interestingly it's a game about a magical cave that can talk.

What is the difference between a laptop and a notebook or netbook?

Computer Hardware Questions

Laptop

A mobile computer with a full-sized keyboard, flip-up monitor and space for built-in optical or floppy-disk storage drives.

A laptop is designed to sit on your lap and you can therefore expect it to be quite large and loaded down with features and power.

The standard laptop computer would have some ,if not all, of the following features:

1. 14" - 17" (widescreen) TFT screen.
2. Nvidia GeForce or ATI Radeon graphics subsystem.
3. Internal DVD-ROM or DVD-RW drive
4. Large full featured keyboard.
5. 3 hour (+/-) battery life.
6. Upgradeable.
7. Integrated modem, network, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities.
8. High quality integrate audio and speaker system.
9. Low power consumption, high performance Intel Centrino style processor.

Laptops are designed to be capable of replacing an entire desktop PC if necessary whilst still offering desktop performance in a mobile platform.

Notebook
A mobile computer with a full-sized keyboard and a flip-up monitor. It does not have space for built-in optical or floppy-disk drives, but instead provides communication ports so that an external drive can be connected. This allows a notebook to be much thinner than a laptop.

The notebook computer would have some ,if not all, of the following features:

1. Ultralight. Less weight is better.
2. 4 - 5 hour battery life.
3. No internal floppy drive.
4. Minimal graphics subsystem.
5. No internal DVD or CD system.
6. 12" - 14" TFT screen.
7. Low profile (thin).
8. Integrated modem and network connection.
9. Smallest possible keyboard that retains functionality.
10. Low power consumption Celeron/Centrino or Sempron style processor.

In essence a notebook computer is designed to provide mobile computing that won't break your back yet still offer all the power the mobile users requires for work and some leisure pursuits. This portability normally comes at a price. The level of miniaturisation involved comes at a cost and high end notebooks can prove to be quite expensive.

Notebooks offer reasonable power and extreme portability.

Note: Some Notebooks pretend to be tablets (see blow) as their screens are touch sensitive can fold back to cover their keypads.

Netbook or Mini PC
A mobile computer with a keyboard and screen smaller than full size (some are less than half the size). As with a notebook, it does not have space for built-in storage drives, but does provide ports for connecting an external drive.

Tablet
A mobile computer without a keyboard. It has a monitor that forms one side of the device. The monitor is touch sensitive and can present a virtual keyboard when input is required. The Tablet does not have ports to attach peripherals and has no disk storage.

Some of the most popular Tablets are developments of high end phones rather than 'smaller' PCs and many of the newer Tablets are being released with special 'new' operating systems which have no relation to MS Windows.This means that applications - 'Apps' for them can be downloaded from the Internet and most of the users data and processing is provided from the Internet 'cloud computing'.

Undergraduate Admission Procedures and Applying Online
Please read the following instructions carefully before applying online.

( Students must contact the Admissions office at 014948888 - Male Colleges)

1.      The student has to sit the aptitude exam (Qeyas) conducted by the National Center for Assessment in Higher Education. (This exam is required for graduates of regular (Arabic-Speaking) Saudi high schools). For more information about this exam, please visit www.qeyas.org. Graduates of International (Non-Arabic Speaking) Schools are recommended to take either the "English" version of the "Qeyas" test or SAT I exam, in order for them to be eligible to apply for a PSU scholarship.

2.      The student needs to fill the application-for-admission form (ONLINE or at the Information Desk of the Deanship of Admissions and Registration).

3.      The student has to pay the application fee (SR 500), either:

-       cash at the Student’s Accounting Office in campus,

-       or deposit the fee at the PSU Bank Account # 017-059999-001 SABB Bank, Hai Al-Worood Branch (for the Men's Colleges ), or Account # 2120844469940 Riyadh Bank, Al-Takhassussi Branch (for the Women's College) and submit the receipt to the Student Accounting Office. (The application fee is non-refundable). The fee can be paid before the Entrance Exam day.

4.      The student has to attend the Entrance Exam in the date and time specified by the Deanship of Admission and Registration. Students who earn excellent scores in the exam will be eligible to take the Preparatory Year Program (PYP) promotion exams. Students who pass the PYP promotion exams with high scores may be exempted from part or all of the PYP.


Required Documents

Students applying to join Prince Sultan Private University should submit the following documents :

1.      The student must keep sufficient copies of all document submitted to university, before submitting them.

2.      One copy of the original general secondary school certificate.

3.      One copy of the Qeyas (or SAT I) score.

4.      One copy of the National identification document.

5.      A good conduct certificate issued by the school from which the applicant has graduated.

6.      Four (4) recent 4x6 cm photographs.

7.      An official document from the workplace granting permission for the applicant to study at PSU. (Only in cases where the applicant is in employment).

Admission Criteria & Requirements

A student applying to study for a B.Sc. degree in any of the majors offered by Prince Sultan University should satisfy the following conditions:

1.      Has a general Saudi secondary school (high school) certificate (natural sciences, or social and administrative sciences) or equivalent. Those students who have their high school diplomas from administration major can join the Finance, Marketing and Accounting department only. High school diplomas earned outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia must be approved by the Ministry of Education in Riyadh.

2.      Pass the University Entrance Exam.

3.      Be a full-time student; part-time enrolment is not permitted.

4.      Has a record of good conduct.

5.      If an applicant is public or private sector employee, he should obtain written approval to study from his workplace.

6.      Satisfy other conditions stipulated by the board of PSU and announced at the time of application.

7.      To pass the medical check-up.

8.      The student should have earned his high school diploma within the past five years.
The academic aptitude of applicants is based on their secondary school average, Qeys (or SAT I) scores, and the results of the Entrance Exam.

Transfer Criteria

Students can be admitted at PSU as Transfer Students based on the following criteria:

1.      Student must be currently enrolled at a university that is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in Riyadh.

2.      Student’s cumulative GPA must be not less than 2.00 out of 4.0, only courses with (C) grade or better can be transferred.

The Academic Transfer committee will decide the courses that can be transferred based on the concerned department’s evaluation of the course contents. The decision must be approved by the college council.

Required Documents

1.      Official Saudi Arabian High School Diploma, or an equivalent high school diploma. (High school diplomas issued outside Saudi Arabia, must be accredited by the Ministry of Education in Riyadh).

2.      Official Transcript from the student’s current university.

3.      Official and detailed course- description of the courses taken by the student.

NOTE: Applications are for the Preparatory Year Program (PYP). Students can join a particular degree program after passing the PYP.
